You'll find a lot of new updates in many different areas of Farmbrite this month! First, the Bulk Actions feature that you see in crops, livestock, equipment, and other places has been improved to be easier to interact with, especially on mobile devices. Next, you'll see changes to the crop system, including a streamlined Crop Plan and new yield averages across fields, beds, and crop types. There are also various updates to Livestock records based on your feedback, like breeding improvements, livestock accounting updates, and new colorful updates to more easily see animal statuses at a glance. There are also other updates to the inventory system, and a new connection between your contacts and accounting transactions.
Bulk Actions Updates
The Bulk Actions menu has been enhanced to provide a better experience when selecting and working with records. It will now be docked at the bottom of your page, so you can perform the actions and updates after scrolling and selecting your records without going back to the top. This also makes it easier to use on the Farmbrite mobile app. If you have never seen this feature before, be aware that you can use Bulk Actions to make updates on multiple records at the same time. This time-saving feature can be used for things like recording treatments across different plants in the same location, adding measurements to your livestock, or adding notes and tasks to your equipment records.
Crop Updates
There are a few new features and updates to the crop section for September.
The Crop Plan has been enhanced to combine succession plantings of the same crop in the same location into a single row. You can now more easily see when your next harvest is ready and when you need to replant, helping you plan for future needs and orders.
There are new yield averages on your crop type harvest summaries. This includes new calculated average data like yield per acre, yield per field/bed, yield per row, and yield per plant. These additional data points can help you see what fields are most productive for what crops, and assist in your planning or expanding your plantings in the future. You'll find these on the Harvest page on each crop type.
To go along with the new calculations above, you'll also find new reports to help you view this data. There are two new standard reports for Yield Stats by Crop Type, and Yield Stats by Location. You can also add the calculated amounts as columns on your Planting and Crop Type custom reports.
Livestock Updates
You'll immediately see a new look on the main livestock page and in your Livestock records. This includes highlight tag colors and showing unique statuses with different hues. There is also a new look to the animal timeline shown on their summary page. You might also notice that the breeding status of animals is also color coded now!
Speaking of breeding, there are multiple enhancements to animal records to better track breeding, offspring, and genealogy.
New female animal records that are not neutered are automatically created in an open breeding status. That means they'll automatically be shown on the eligible females report, helping ensure you don't miss any potential breeding matches.
You can now more easily record bulk pregnancy checks through the pregnancy check report. Using the Bulk Actions that we referenced earlier in this article, you can now run a report of all exposed animals to easily record the pregnancy checks in bulk.
You can now apply filters to an animal's offspring tab. This can help you find those animals that are currently weaning, or those with other specific keywords. This can be very helpful for animals like pigs with large litters!
You can now record a new expense for a purchase price when duplicating an animal record. If you create a copy of an animal and need to account for the purchase in your Farmbrite accounting, you'll have a new checkbox to record this when you copy the original record.
Inventory Updates
Inventory items that are measured in "quantity" will now show an amount available in pounds/kilograms. If you supply an amount in the Estimated Pounds per Unit field, Farmbrite will now automatically calculate how many pounds you have an display there too. This is really helpful if you track feed or commodities by bag count, but also if you would like to know the overall weight you have available.
You can also now track your inventory in grams, even if you use US standard measurements. This means you can use that unit on treatments and feedings too, so if you need to deliver a dose of medicine or mix in a ratio in grams, you can now use that without switching all measurements to metric units.
Accounting Updates
The Payee/Payer field in an accounting transaction now searches your Contact records. If you've added someone to your contacts and want to record a transaction for them, you can search for their name when adding the transaction.
That covers everything for this month, reach out to us if you have any questions about using any of these features.
