Setting a Default Warehouse for an Item

You might have a very methodical system for where you store your farm equipment, tools, inputs, outputs, and so much more. Maybe your feed is always stored in a specific bin, while your tools are in a shed across the farm. If you have inventory items that are always stored in the same place, you can set a default storage location on the item to streamline your process for adding and removing it in the future.

This can be set on any inventory item, and is done on a per item basis. You can easily update this for an existing inventory item you have already created, as long as it has been stored somewhere in the past.  If you are creating a brand new inventory item, to use this feature you'll need to add inventory to a warehouse first, and then you'll see an option to set it as the default.

In our example below we start with a brand new inventory item for Chicken Feed. After creating it, we add some to our Chicken Feed Storage warehouse. Once it is added there, we can then edit the item and select the default storage location. This menu is only displayed once the item is stored somewhere, and only shows the places it has been stored. After setting the default and saving, see that the next time we add the Chicken Feed Storage is automatically selected.

The default storage location will also be prepopulated when removing inventory. It is also used when adding or removing inventory from the Quick Add menu. You'll see the default warehouse and bin loaded once you select the item in the Quick Add window.
