Why am I being asked for my Tax ID?

Farmbrite is based in the United States, and supports farmers all around the globe. If you operate and are billed in one of the following countries, you'll need to supply a VAT Tax ID when purchasing your Farmbrite account. This is required for Farmbrite to properly record taxes and your tax status.
As a United States company, Farmbrite does not collect or remit sales tax nor VAT tax on your behalf. As a business purchasing software for your business, you may be responsible for reporting and paying any applicable sales tax or VAT. You'll need to provide a valid VAT registration number to Farmbrite, and Farmbrite will not charge VAT as this purchase will be considered a Business-to-Business transaction. B2B customers may have an obligation to self-report the VAT under the reverse charge mechanism. When you buy goods or services from suppliers in other countries, the reverse charge moves the responsibility for the recording of a VAT transaction from the seller to the buyer for that good or service.
When you subscribe to Farmbrite, you'll be asked to choose your Tax ID number, and then supply in to complete the purchase.
After purchasing, you will also see this reminder of the potential tax obligations on your Farmbrite receipt PDF.
Reach out to us if you have any questions about the Tax ID when subscribing, we're glad to help!
