Volume Pricing

Buying in bulk is a great way to save, and you might want to offer your customers this option on some of your products. They'll get the savings, and you'll get the increased sales! You can configure volume pricing on any of your products to set unique pricing based on the quantity purchased. This is applicable in the online store, the POS, and any administrative orders you add in the software.

Be aware that this feature is different from wholesale pricing, which will be applied to any contact marked as a wholesale customer. Regardless of quantity purchased, whole customers always get the wholesale price when adding their order administratively.

To get started with this, select your product and find the Retail Price field. You'll see a button for Volume Pricing next to it. Click it, and a row will appear below the price for your to set a quantity purchased and unique price. You can add the number purchased, and the price that will be applied for this item if they purchase that quantity. You can add up to 5 rows of unique pricing levels. The pricing is applied to the entire quantity purchased.

In our example below we normally sell tomatoes at $2.50/lb, but when 5 pounds are bought the price reduced to $2/lb. If the customer buys 10 pounds, they'll get them at $1.75.

Be aware that volume pricing can be assigned to product variations as well, so if you have some subproducts that are discounted but others that are not, you can set the volume discount on each variation independently.

Purchasing Items with Volume Discounts

Once you set up the quantity based discounts, they will automatically be applied in the online store, the POS, and administratively. When a customer purchases more than the quantity required, the discounted rate is automatically applied and reflected. No promo codes or coupons necessary, this is all calculated and applied automatically.

In the first example below we demonstrate the 3 levels of volume pricing on our tomatoes - 1 for $2.50 $2.50 each, 5 for $2 each, and 10 for $1.75 each.

Of course, this also applies to the Online Store as well. Your online customers will see the pricing tiers described in the item summary, and the correct price will automatically be calculated based on the quantity in their card.
