Filtering Warehouses

Defining what items can be stored in a location can help you and your farmhands stay organized. You might want to keep hazardous materials separated from other inputs, or create one single storage location for your animal feed and supplements so you always know exactly where to go when it's feeding time. You can define what types of items can be stored in a location to streamline the process of adding your inventory to the warehouse, so whether you are adding from a recent delivery or a harvest, you'll see just the locations and items you need.

Filtering Your Warehouse

These filters connect with your inventory item categories, so you'll also need to configure those categories on your items to get the full value out of this feature.

When creating or updating a warehouse, choosing the option to Limit Inventory Categories will present an additional menu for you to pick from a set of categories. These selections determine what types of inventory items can be stored in this warehouse. You might have a warehouse dedicated specifically to chemicals and hazardous materials where you might not want to also store your harvest yields! Pick as many categories as you'd like; there may be some overlap between them and overall you'll likely pick a few. When adding items to this warehouse, only the items in the selected categories will be available to pick.

Adding Inventory to the Filtered Warehouse

Once you have selected the categories that can be stored here, you'll only see items in those categories when adding inventory. Click Add Inventory, and you'll see that the item menu is filtered to only show inventory items that fit the category criteria.

In our example below, we now only see the items for medicines, breeding supplies, and veterinary supplies when adding items to the storage location we created. Our other inventory items for finished products, harvested items, fertilizers, equipment parts, etc. are not included, thus making it much easier to select the correct item from this menu.
