What's New - January 2025

Happy New Year! We hope your 2024 was prosperous and wish you the best in 2025!

For this month, you'll find two large new features that were requested by many of our users. First, you can now create Inventory Recipes to combine multiple inventory items into a mix. This could be useful for making an animal feed or fertilizer blend to treat your crops in advance without having to apply each item individually. Speaking of saving time on treatments, you'll also see a new feature for Treatment Templates on both livestock and crop records. You'll use this to define your treatments in advance and apply them with one action, including adding multiple treatments at the same time. Beyond those two new additions, you'll also find updates to existing features like importing yields, printing equipment information, calendar updates, and more!

Inventory Recipes

We know that not every input you use around your farm is ready for use right out of the box, and you might need to combine multiple individual items to make a final product. This can be true for your outputs as well, where you might incorporate your crop harvest or animal yields with other inputs to create value-added products to sell in your market. Whether you are making a pre-mix feed for livestock, a fertilizer blend for your crops, or a bottle of hot sauce from your pepper harvest,  you can now create recipes to simplify and streamline this process and make your next batch in no time

Crop and Livestock Treatment templates

You likely have many routine treatments that you give to your animals and plants. There are probably common remedies that you have found for different diseases and conditions, or amendments and nutrients that you frequently apply to encourage growth and health. You might even have other commonly stacked treatments that take place at the same time, like branding and dehorning livestock, or fertilizing and tilling your fields. To save time, you can create Treatment Templates to reuse over and over, and even connect them in a Treatment Group to apply multiple templates in one action. This feature functions nearly identically for crops and livestock, you can read about it for crops here, and for livestock in this article

Other Improvements and Enhancements

Additionally, you'll find these enhancements to existing features.

  • You can now import your animal yields and crop harvests. This could be useful if you are new to Farmbrite and trying to add historical information, or if you prefer to only add your egg collecting activities every few days and would rather use a spreadsheet to enter them.

  • You can now access and print an Equipment History Record. This includes past service records, usage logs, notes, pictures, and all the basic information about the equipment as well. You might use this if you are selling the equipment and want to provide a complete history of it to your buyer.

  • Withdrawal alerts for crop and livestock treatments are now shown on your Calendar. These were previously created as tasks on your task list, but now you'll see them on the calendar as event reminders instead.

  • Calendar events can now have attachments associated with them. This can help you add pictures or files that were relevant for the event. This could be very useful if you are using Activity Journals to note the day's activities!
