Thanks for checking out what's new in Farmbrite for November! We have a few new customization updates this month to make the software more tailored to your needs. You'll now be able to select which columns display on various pages throughout the system, helping you see just the data you need at-a-glance. We've also expanded the ability to create custom fields to nutrient and amendment application records for your plantings and grow locations, add a couple new custom report types, and expanded the custom filters as well. There are also other crop and livestock updates, making it easier to transplant your crops and connect with a livestock registry. Lets check 'em out!
Customizing Columns
You can now update many dashboard and summary pages to display the specific columns you'd like to see. This helps you include custom fields you have created, and other standard fields that might be particularly important for your needs. You can update the display in many areas across the software like livestock, crops, equipment, products, orders, contacts, treatments, and harvests! This is available individually for each user, so you and your colleagues can see the unique fields relevant for your role and responsibilities!
Nutrient Amendment and Sample Updates
There are three important updates to nutrient and soil sample records this month.
- Custom fields can now be added to nutrient amendment and soil sample records. If you want to track different elements than the standard list you can add more, or create any field to track whatever data you need. Just like other places in the software, you can add dropdown menus, checkbox lists, number and text fields, and date fields as needed.
- There is now a standard field on these records to track an application lot number. If you apply a fertilizer, compost, or other amendment that should be tracked back to its source for certification records, you'll now have a standard field for the lot number used for the application.
- You can now create custom reports and worksheets for nutrient and soil sample records. This lets you take advantage of both features above, as you can add the custom fields and the lot number to these reports and worksheets.
Custom Report Improvements
You'll also see some enhancements to custom reports in general this month.
- Custom report filtering has been improved to include custom fields for crop and livestock treatments. If you have created custom fields for your treatments, you can now use them as filters when creating custom reports. This helps you find just the treatment records you are looking for based on your own unique criteria.
- You can now create custom reports for Product and Contact records. That means you can choose exactly what data you'd like to display, helping you create a contact directory or a product offer sheet for your customers.
Other Enhancements
We've also made a few other updates to various areas of the software for November.
- Custom Fields now have a default value. You can set the default value so that it prepopulates in the field when you create a new record with this field. As an example, if you are labeling organic and standard harvests using a custom field, you can now make the field default to "standard" and then only change it to organic for the harvests that meet that certification.
- When transplanting crops, you can now easily set the transplant date as the new planting date. This might help when moving plants from a greenhouse to a field; when transplanting, you can simply check a box to use the transplant date as the planting date on the record.
- You can now update livestock records via import using their registry number. The search criteria in the import has now been updated to also search and connect your import via this important field. You have always been able to do this via tag number, electronic ID, or Farmbrite ID, but if you'd like to update an animal or import yields and measurements, you can now identify the animal using their familiar registry number.
- There is a new report for a Livestock Group Breakeven Cost Analysis. This is similar to the Breakeven Cost Analysis report we introduced last month for individual animals (and equipment, crops, etc,) but totals the breakeven cost across your smart and basic groups for a given date range.
- The Inventory Lot Summary report has been updated to only include inventory items tracked in lots. Since the report is designed to show the summary of individual lots, we've updated it to exclude items that are not using the lot feature. This streamlines the report to only provide the details about the items you are looking to track with specific lot numbers and date codes.
That's the rundown for this month, reach out to us with any questions or feedback about these new features!
