Thanks for checking out what's new in Farmbrite this month! First, you'll see two updates to Livestock breeding, including new coefficient of inbreeding and average gestation calculations. These can both assist in breeding decisions to promote for healthy and productive offspring. We've also added the ability to use custom fields in bulk livestock yields and measurements, helping you more easily collect the unique information important for you. Next, you'll now have an option for an added layer of account login security using multi-factor authentication, and multi-farm accounts have also been enhanced with additional permission capabilities. Finally, file storage has also been expanded to allow for uploading of higher quality images and larger documents. Check out the video for a full walkthrough, and then look through the linked articles below for more information!
Livestock Updates
You can now calculate a coefficient of inbreeding when creating livestock breeding records. This analyzes the genealogy of your potential breeding pair to provide a percentage of shared heritage, helping you ensure their offspring is viable and productive. This can be calculated when selecting a sire on a breeding record for a female animal, or on the genealogy page for any existing animal record.
An average gestation period is now shown on breeding reports and animal records. This calculates the average length of time a dam is pregnant over their successful pregnancy records. This can help you better prepare for their next birth, and might influence your future breeding selections as well. Bonus: you can add this field to Livestock Group Dashboards and custom reports too!
Custom fields are now available on bulk measurement and yield actions. If you have created unique fields to track important data on your livestock measurement and yield records, those fields are now available when adding those records in bulk.
Increased Storage Capacity
All file and photo storage limits have been increased to 25MB each. This limit was previously 10MB. So if you show your animals and take lots of professional grade pictures, or want to store a large instructional manual PDF for a piece of equipment,we have you covered! Photo and file storage is available for your account overall in the Settings menu, and also available individual records for animals, crops, equipment, and much more!
Multi-Factor Account Authentication
You can now optionally enable multi-factor authentication for your Farmbrite account. This additional level of account security sends you a single use passcode when you log in to Farmbrite, similar to your bank or credit card website. You'll get this to your email address, and then supply the code to access the system. Your Farmbrite account likely contains private financial information, so you can now add this second verification level for another layer of security. This is enabled on a per user basis, so you might enable it on your administrative account, but maybe not require it for every farmhand who has limited permissions in the software.
Multi-Farm Location Permissions
If you manage multiple businesses or locations using a multi-farm account, you can now assign users access to specific locations. This helps you ensure your users have access to the subaccounts they manage, but not others that they don't. If you have not seen this feature previously and would like more information about managing multiple separate businesses within connected Farmbrite subscriptions, reach out and we'll be happy to show you how this could work for you.
