Thanks for taking a look at the new features released in Farmbrite for this month! We've updated multiple financials features to help you better track the value of assets, and expanded your ability to associate accounting transactions with Livestock Groups. You'll also see new drawing tools for the map, which can simplify adding unique shapes like rounded fields or single geographic points. We have made an update to the inventory item categories we released last month based on your great feedback, and added a few smaller updates to animal grazing, searching by tag numbers, and uploading files and photos.
Asset Value History
You can now track previous values for your equipment, grow locations, and inventory items, and then report on those values over time. This was previously available in Livestock records, and helps you track the value and depreciation/appreciation of them over time. You'll update records to track their estimated values when they change, and add records from past values if you'd like to chart the changes over time. These values are then displayed in the Asset Value History Report, which can show the current value, value at the start and end of a date range, and the change during that period too.
Livestock Updates
- You can now add the transactions in bulk to livestock records, or associate the transaction with a livestock group overall. An accounting tab has been added to Smart and Basic livestock groups that calculates income, expenses, and a profit/loss for the group overall. This combines any transactions added to the group itself, and the transactions that you add to individual group members as well. This can help get you assign the expense and income to the group overall, even if you frequently shuffle animals between different groups.
- The search bar has been updated to make it easier to search for animals with short tag numbers. The search previously required 3 characters to find your record, but it can now find single and double digit tags as well. If you have tags (or any other records in the system) that are less than three characters, just hit enter in the search bar and your records will be returned.
- The Grazing Map now shows an icon to indicate the animals grazing in each location. You'll see the animal type along with the count when you navigate to the main grazing homepage.
Map Updates
Your Farm Map has been upgraded with new tools and actions . This includes the ability to draw new shapes, move existing areas, and copy areas to make new ones! There are new tools to draw perfect rectangles and circles, so making your market garden beds and pivot irrigation fields just got much easier. You don't have to remap anything you've already created, but if you have new areas to add to your expanding business or are just getting started with Farmbrite, give it a try.
Additional Updates
- The file and photo upload pages have been enhanced to allow for drag and dropping multiple files at once. So if you just took a few pictures around your farm and want to add them to your library all at once, you can now drag and drop them from your computer and process 5 files uploaded at the same time.
- Users assigned the Veterinarian and Agronomist roles can now use inventory when recording treatments, feedings, and breedings. So if they are using some of the items you have stored on your property, they can now associate them with the records they create.
- Speaking of Inventory, did you see our update last month to introduce Inventory Item Categories? We received some great feedback about them, and made two updates based on your requests:
- Items categorized as "Other" will no longer be shown when creating feedings, treatments, breedings, and equipment service records. This further streamlines the menu and saves you time looking through items you won't use in these actions.
- You have a new category for Animal Yields to better separate your crop harvests from your animal products. This can help you make sure the eggs don't end up in the hay storage loft :).
