What's New - February 2025

You'll find many new enhancements in Farmbrite for this month that were specifically requested by our user community to improve their daily use of the software. We're talking about smaller improvements that have a big impact on usability and enhance existing features in the software. These useful updates can be found all around the system; from crops, to livestock, inventory, accounting, tasks, and more. Let's check them out!

Crops and Plantings

The Crop Plan will now show a indicator for today's date, giving you at-a-glance information about the current crops you have planted. It also now reflects the entire harvest window for your crops. We know that the harvest might not be completed immediately, especially if you live in a tropical climate where some plants can yield over a much longer period of time.

Planting Bed area will now be displayed based on user supplied dimensions. This had previously shown based on mapped area for your farm map. We heard it can be tough to accurately map smaller square footage beds, so you can now edit the bed and supply whatever dimensions you need.

Crops Types can now be copied to create new ones. If you grow many varieties of the same species, you can now duplicate the crop type definition to retain unique characteristics like days to emerge, expected harvest amounts, and more.

Accounting

The Accounting Dashboard now displays all transactions from a rolling previous 12 months by default. In the past this was calendar based, and would sometimes cause confusion at the start of a new year. You can also use the filters to see whatever date range you would like.

Speaking of filters, the charts at the top of the Dashboard now update to reflect your filtered dates. So if you'd like to see expenses by category within a specific range, or really focus on how you did in Quarter 4 last year, you'll now see a better visual representation of that data.,

Similar to the crop enhancement, you can now copy accounting transactions. This might be helpful for frequently repeated expenses or income that occur weekly or monthly.

Transactions are now labeled with the date and time they were created, and the user who added it. This can help you keep tabs on all the transactions to ensure accuracy of your paper trail.

Inventory

Inventory Recipes have been enhanced to account for item varieties.  When you create a recipe, you can now more easily pick the ingredients when you track them in separate varieties, as the variety will be displayed when creating the recipe. Additionally, when making the recipe you'll see a better message alerting you that there is no inventory available for one of your ingredients.

Warehouses with inventory stored in them can no longer be deleted. You can still the delete the warehouse, but will need to move your items first so they are not lost. This will prevent you from mistakenly losing inventory and inadvertently affecting your usage statistics.

Market

Like accounting transactions and crop types, you can now copy market orders as well. This can be very helpful if you have recurring orders for the same products that happen often, such as a weekly delivery to a local restaurant. Once copied, you can also update the newly created order to add more products if needed.

Other Updates

You can now use any image as a default image on your records. This is applicable to Livestock, Crops, Equipment, and Products. The most recently uploaded image was previously used, but you'll now see a new selection for Set as Primary on all photos. The selected photo will be used as the main image for the record, regardless of newer photos being uploaded.

Livestock Groups are now secondarily sorted by tag number. This has always been how they were organized on the main livestock dashboard, and you'll now see that same sort order on your groups. This is used secondarily after whatever sort you choose by clicking the column headers on the page.

The Task Board View will now retain the last 25 completed tasks in the Done column. This was previously clear each time you accessed the page. Showing the last 25 should help you get a better sense of the recent work that has been done around the farm without accessing the full list of completed tasks.
